Haydn's L'anima del filosofo (Orpheus & Eurydice)
L'anima del filosofo is an opera in Italian in four acts by Joseph Haydn, the last he ever wrote. The libretto, by Carlo Francesco Badini, is based on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice as told in Ovid's Metamorphoses. Read more here.
Past Productions
We are proud of our history and the music we have made over the past six years.
Our first production was Semele by G. F Handel which was performed at the City Recital Hall, Angel Place in December 2002.
Our 2003 production was The Fairy Queen by Henry Purcell.
Our 2004 production was Monteverdi's L'Orfeo (1607).
Our 2005 production was the Australian premiere of Rameau's Dardanus.
Our 2006 production (and fifth birthday) was Mozart's Idomeneo. Our 2007 production was Vivaldi's Juditha Triumphans. Our 2008 production was Charpentier's David + Jonathan. Our 2009 production was Cavalli's L'Ormindo (1644)
