The cast had a very well deserved day off, and the orchestra - minus the horns who start tomorrow - played through almost the entire opera. It's great to hear the work, which Erin has so faithfully and beautifully been playing on a small harpsichord, now come to life with all the gorgeous colours of a baroque band. Strings (including a gamba and two basses), two theorbos (and guitar and mandolin), bassoon and two harpsichords. And horns tomorrow. How lucky are we.
