Welcome to the rehearsal blog! We've made it; the day has arrived and a great day it has been apart from the weather which has been a grey and mizzling in Sydney, but our spirits were not dampened at all. We began - as we always do - with the music. Conductor and artistic director Erin Helyard worked singly and in groups throughout the day - starting with Celeste Lazarenko in the role of Léonore, then Jessica Aszodi as Jacinte, and then David Greco as Lopez. There are a very large number of ensemble pieces in L'Amant jaloux, and it's fascinating to hear them coming together - each different character being gloriously portrayed in her or his own unique way. Gorgeous music and beautifully sung. We were also lucky enough to have a number of other people in with us today - director Chas Rader-Shieber, stage manager Tanya Leach, ASM Erin Shaw and assistant conductor Keiren Brandt-Sawdy. Here's a pic to start you off - four lovely gentlemen from the afternoon's session. Erin isn't impersonating a pirate, he's having a bit of trouble with one of his eyes - but definitely on the mend now.
