Pinchgut Welcomes New General Manager

Hello. I’m Sarah Gilchrist, Pinchgut Opera’s new General Manager and I’m really looking forward to getting to know you all. Both Cressida and Liz have stressed to me the importance of keeping up a close personal contact with you, our beloved audience and donors, and I really hope that this will continue. In case you’re catching up, Cressida the outgoing General Manager has left to have a baby and then move to London. So, a little about me. I started here at Pinchgut Opera as the Marketing and Communications Manager last year. I’ve previously held roles at the Sydney Writers’ Festival and the Australian Youth Orchestra amongst others and whilst only a singer in the car (and to my kids) I spent several years treading the boards as an actress here in Sydney and London before switching to the dark side of arts administration. I have been blown away by the incredible work that Pinchgut is doing unearthing these rarely performed operatic gems and then allowing them to live on through Pinchgut LIVE. I can honestly say that it’s been a wonderful welcome into the Pinchgut family.
