The following conditions apply to tickets for, and attendance at, Pinchgut Opera events. Any additional conditions imposed by the performance venues and state government departments will also apply. If a ticket holder can no longer attend a Pinchgut Opera event due to the circumstances relating to health and COVID-19, the below options are available. These options can only be exercised by the person who has made the booking. We reserve the right to request further information regarding the circumstances which apply to the affected ticket holder.

Please contact the box office from where you purchased your tickets to arrange your exchange/credit/donation or apply for a refund.

    • Tickets purchased via Melbourne Recital Centre are eligible for exchange and refunds only.

  • Exchange
    • Tickets can be exchanged for another Pinchgut Opera performance without an exchange fee.

  • Credit
    • You may request a credit to be applied to your ticketing account to be used for a future Pinchgut Opera performance.  Such credit will be valid for 3 years from the date of issue for any future Pinchgut Opera performance. The credit must be arranged no later than 4 hours before the start of the ticketed performance.

  • Donate
    • The value of the ticket can become a tax-deductible donation for any amount over $2.

  • Refunds
    • Except where required by law, we will only provide refunds at our absolute discretion. Any request for a refund must be made no later than 4 hours before the scheduled start of the event by contacting the box office from where you purchased your tickets.


  • Audiences are seated in accordance with requirements currently set by NSW Health for City Recital Hall, and the Department of Health and Human Services in Victoria, and capacity is capped at 75%. Empty seats between bookings are not guaranteed.
  • Masks are mandatory at performance venues.


  • All patrons who visit City Recital Hall must check-in via the Service NSW QR code before entering, to align with recent NSW Government regulations. 
  • Before you visit the venue, please download the Service NSW App to ensure your arrival at the venue is as smooth as possible:
  • Requirements for the Melbourne Recital Centre will be updated by the end of February.


If at the time of the event either you or any other attendees of your group fall into any of the categories listed below, you agree not to attend the event:

  • feel unwell with any of the COVID-19 symptoms as identified by NSW Health (such as fever, cough, sore/scratchy throat, shortness of breath, loss of smell or loss of taste; 
  • have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days or are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test;
  • are subject to a self-quarantine or self-isolate period;
  • have been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the prior 14 days; or 
  • have returned from overseas or have visited a "positive COVID-19 case location" as outlined by NSW Government in the last 14 days before your intended date of attendance.

You also agree to consider your own safety, wellbeing and any applicable government advice before attending the event. By attending the event, you accept any risk associated with the event, including in relation to COVID-19. 


  • Tickets are sold by Opera Australia, City Recital Hall and Melbourne Recital Centre on behalf of Pinchgut Opera; Tickets are subject to Pinchgut Opera’s conditions of sale and to the requirements of the venue at which the activity is presented.
  • The right of admission is reserved.
  • The right is reserved to vary, substitute or withdraw advertised programs, artists, and seating arrangements.
  • Tickets are non-refundable except as specified in the Entertainment Industry Code of Fair Practice
  • Cameras and other recording devices are not permitted in the venue’s auditorium. Mobile telephones, must be turned off and switched to ‘silent’ for the duration of the performance.
  • Pinchgut Opera reserves the right to record or broadcast any performances.
  • Ticket/s are valid only when purchased from Opera Australia, City Recital Hall or Melbourne Recital Centre.
  • Performances may be unsuitable for children under eight years of age. All patrons, irrespective of age, must hold a valid ticket.
  • Patrons arriving late will be admitted into the venue’s auditorium when there is a suitable break in the performance.
  • Patrons who disrupt a performance may be asked to leave the venue.
  • Existing ticket credits from postponed 2020 performances may only be redeemed by calling the Opera Australia Box Office on (02) 9318 8300.
