IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PURCELL AND CHARPENTIER AND RINALDO
We regret to announce our September concert series, Purcell and Charpentier in Melbourne and Sydney, and our December opera season of Handel’s Rinaldo in Sydney have been postponed.
We are deeply respectful and caring of our audience and understand the weight of responsibility when it comes to your well-being. We also take seriously our commitment to presenting early music to the highest possible standard, so every time you step inside the theatre you can expect nothing less than a truly remarkable Pinchgut experience.
The ongoing logistical impacts resulting from COVID-19 make it impossible for us to guarantee your health and our artistic excellence. As a result, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone these planned performances. Erin Helyard has curated a stunning repertoire for the Purcell and Charpentier concerts, and I know Rinaldo is a favourite work for many Pinchgut fans. As such, we plan to program these works into forthcoming seasons.
If you hold tickets to any of these postponed performances, you will receive an email outlining the options for your tickets. This will be sent to the email address you used to purchase your tickets. If you have not received an email regarding your tickets, please phone (02) 9318 8344 to discuss your options.
While COVID-19 has created a challenging environment for all arts companies and defined what we can’t do, we have shifted focus to what we can do. We have started work on an exciting project that we hope to share with you later this year. This promises to be ground-breaking for Pinchgut and will provide you with a unique and intimate experience of a Pinchgut performance like never before.
We also have our eyes firmly set on the 2021 Season, which will be Pinchgut Opera’s 20th Anniversary. With thanks to the generous support of our donors and careful planning, we are confident we will emerge from this radical disruption and present an incredible line-up next year. Look out for a season announcement in October.
We hope you and your loved ones are safe and well, and we look forward to keeping you up to date as our plans progress.
Pinchgut Opera acknowledges the Gadigal peoples of the Eora nation, the first story-tellers and singers of songs. We pay our respects to elders past, present, and emerging.
