Accessibility

Pinchgut Opera is committed to making our performances accessible for all.

To facilitate any access requirements, we encourage you to contact our Ticketing Team by phone 02 9037 3444 or by email ticketing@pinchgutopera.com.au so that we can assist you.

We present our works in venues that are accessible to people with limited mobility and people with wheelchairs.

The venues Pinchgut performs in are fitted with Auracast and hearing loops.

Pinchgut’s operas feature surtitles in large, easy to read font projected above the action and can be audio-described for patrons with limited vision. More information on audio-described performances will be made available on the production page closer to the performance.

VENUES

Pinchgut Opera performs at multiple venues. Links below will take you to each venue’s accessibility page for further site-specific information.

City Recital Hall, Sydney

Roslyn Packer Theatre, Walsh Bay

Melbourne Recital Centre

Pinchgut Opera has a range of seating options to ensure that your performance experience is as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.

Wheelchair accessible seating is available. Patrons can choose to remain in their wheelchair or transfer to a seat. There are also level access seats available for patrons using mobility aids or who require mobility assistance.

For patrons with sensory sensitivities or who may need to exit the auditorium during a performance, when possible, we can arrange seating on or near the end of a row and close to the exit doors to facilitate any mid-performance entry or exit requirements. Please contact our Ticketing Team when booking your tickets to discuss these requests so that we can advise on the best seating for your needs and coordinate with the venue.

Pinchgut Opera is an affiliate of the NSW Companion Card Scheme. The companion card is recognised for all Pinchgut Opera Season performances and entitles the purchaser to a free ticket for their companion. The purchaser needs to contact the Ticketing Office ticketing@pinchgutopera.com.au or 02 9037 3444 or arrange in person at our performance venues.

Pinchgut Opera welcomes all visitors with assistance animals (such as guide dogs) certified by a registered authority. Please inform our Ticketing Team when making your booking over the phone or email ticketing@pinchgutopera.com.au in advance of your visit, or in person at the performance venue box office which is open 90 minutes before performance start times.

For customers with vision impairments, we can organise audio descriptions of our live performances with 6 months notice, and this service is dependent on the availability of an audio describer.

CITY RECITAL HALL - Auracast

City Recital Hall now uses Auracast assistive listening technology to broadcast audio within the entire theatre. If patrons have an Auracast-enabled device, they can connect to the system directly via the Bluetooth settings on their device. Alternatively, Auracast receiver packs can be collected from the Cloak Room in the ground floor foyer. To use this system:

1. Press and hold the button on the right for two seconds to turn the unit on/off.

2. Plug in headphones or neckloop in either of the two ports at the top of the receiver.

3. Press the ‘scan/select’ button (the button on the right-hand side of the receiver under the display) to select the City Recital Hall broadcast name, and then hit this button again to connect.

4. Set the volume to a desired level using the volume buttons on the left side of the receiver.

Hearing loops at service counters

For added accessibility, localised hearing loops are installed at the Box Office and the Cloak Room.
