John’s formal training began as a Choral Scholar at Cambridge University, and after graduation, he sang with a number of London based choirs including The Tallis Chamber Choir and Corydon Singers, with whom he participated in a number of significant recordings including with Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras.
After moving to Australia, John joined as an inaugural member of the professional chamber choir, Cantillation, with whom he has participated in numerous concerts and over 30 recordings, primarily under the ABC Classics label. He has to date sung in the chorus of eleven Pinchgut Opera productions, from Dardanus (2005) to Theodora in Concert (2024).
In addition, John was a Board Director of Pinchgut Opera from 2008 – 2024 and so has been actively engaged supporting the development of the company in different ways for more than twenty years.
Outside of the musical world, John has a corporate career and is a Co-founder and Director of a retail data analytics company servicing clients across Europe, North America and ANZ.
Now residing in London, John is a Board Director of the Academy of Ancient Music, and the professional chamber choir, Polyphony.
