Mezzo-soprano
Keara Donohoe is a Sydney-based mezzo-soprano and full-time chorister with Opera Australia, where she has performed in more than 65 productions since 2018. Alongside her extensive ensemble work, she has appeared in featured roles such as Madam Larina (cover) in Eugene Onegin, Second Witch in Dido and Aeneas, Cretan Mezzo in Idomeneo, and featured soloist in Watershed.
Keara has also performed with Pinchgut Opera in productions including The Fairy Queen, Theodora, Iphigenie and Women of the Pietà. Her screen work with Pinchgut includes a featured performance in their film A Delicate Fire.
Earlier operatic credits include Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, Flora and Annina in La Traviata, and Meg in The Merry Wives of Windsor.
With an interest in new works, Keara has been involved in numerous development productions, workshops and premieres, including Gavin Lockley and Colleen McCullough’s Morgan’s Run, Chloe Charody’s The Carnival: A Circus Opera, and George Palmer’s Cloudstreet. Keara sang as part of the Telling Tales exhibit at The Museum of Contemporary Art in Lee Ming Wei’s Sonic Blossom.
A versatile performer, Keara is also active as a concert soloist, with appearances in Handel’s Messiah, Elgar’s Sea Pictures, Schubert’s Mass No. 6, and works by Nicolai, Gossec, and Hasse. Her performance experience extends to film, music theatre, jazz, and contemporary vocal projects, reflecting a broad and dynamic artistic practice.
