Morgan Pearse

As one of the truly versatile baritones of his generation, Morgan Pearse is internationally recognised for his vibrant stage presence and expressive musicality across opera, concert, and early music. In 2026, he sings Peter in Hansel and Gretel for State Opera South Australia and Britten’s War Requiem with Sydney Philharmonia.

He has sung the title roles in Le nozze di Figaro at Opernhaus Zürich and the Badisches Staatstheater, The Barber of Seville at English National Opera, Don Giovanni at the Verbier Festival, and Billy Budd at the Bolshoi Theatre. He has also appeared as Scarpia (Tosca) and Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor) at Opera Holland Park, Enrico, Mercutio (Roméo et Juliette) and Escamillo (Carmen) for State Opera South Australia, Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) at the Badisches Staatstheater, andBelcore (L’elisir d’amore) for New Zealand Opera.

A highly regarded interpreter of baroque and early music, Morgan has sung Uberto in La serva padrona for Pinchgut Opera, Achilla in Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto for Opera Omaha and with the Moscow Philharmonic, Valens in Theodora and Araspe in Tolomeo at the Karlsruhe Händelfestspiele, and Nero in Octavia and Almiro in Idalma at the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music. His concert appearances include Bach’s St John Passion with The English Concert, Handel’s Solomon at Opéra Royal de Versailles, Messiah with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, London Handel Festival and Britten Sinfonia, and Handel’s Brockes Passion for the London Handel Festival.

An active recording artist, Morgan appears with the Academy of Ancient Music on Handel: Brockes-Passion and the Gramophone Award-winning album Dussek: Messe Solennelle. He is featured on Pasquini’s Idalma from the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music (CPO), the world premiere recording of Eleanor Alberga’s The Soul’s Expression with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales (Lyrita), and Dame Ethel Smyth’s Der Wald with the BBC Concert Orchestra and BBC Singers.
