Venue

Ahead of Pinchgut’s performances of Handel’s original Dublin version (1742) at City Recital Hall later in November and December, Artistic Director and Conductor, Erin Helyard presents a one-hour talk exploring the fascinating history and enduring legacy of Handel’s masterpiece, from its modest beginnings, to its place as one of the most beloved works in Western music.

Drawing on his recent research at the British Library in London, where he examined Handel’s original manuscripts and early performance documents, Erin offers fresh insights into the work’s creation and the remarkable journey it has taken over nearly three centuries.

This 60-minute talk also features a live performance by mezzo-soprano Ashlyn Tymms, accompanied by Helyard at the harpsichord.
