Bach & Telemann I: Concertos & Sonatas
Concertos & Sonatas
J.S Bach & Georg Telemann
Quiet intensity, dazzling virtuosity
Bach & Telemann: Concertos & Sonatas marks Pinchgut Opera’s first purely instrumental concert, placing the extraordinary musicians of the Orchestra of the Antipodes centre stage.
At its heart are two electrifying Bach concertos. In this specially curated program, Erin Helyard’s mastery of the harpsichord is on full display in the dynamic Harpsichord Concerto in D minor, while acclaimed Baroque violinist Matthew Greco brings brilliance and flair to the Violin Concerto in A minor.
Telemann’s remarkable five-part sonatas add lyrical elegance and intricate counterpoint, their lively rhythms alive with movement and invention.
Performed one-to-a-part, each player brings this vibrant repertoire into sharp focus with clarity, intimacy and expressive power — capturing the spirit of collaboration and friendly rivalry at the heart of this music.
Bold, inventive and irresistibly vital, this is Baroque music at its most adventurous — a celebration of brilliance, energy and the thrill of musical discovery.
